De'Von Burt, Detroit student leader, speaks out!

I don’t agree with the ideology of charter schools and what they can do. I have been a proud BAMN student organizer in BAMN for at least 8 months now (since October, 2009 and present) and I’m doing my best to defend public education. Another thing about BAMN is that they support student activism; I do also!

Rep. Marco Rubio hits the campaign trail this week on a bus tour across the state. This provides an excellent opportunity to personally inform the U.S. Senate candidate, running against Governor Crist, how you feel about SB-6 and how his views will impact your vote in November.

Arne Duncan and his billionaire boyz club have been operating in secrecy for too long. It is time to make this a national debate, demand MSNBC and CNN, the corporate press, to cover this issue with the same exhaustive and energetic coverage they give to ‘C’ Street’ or the daily news of the republican and democratic shenanigans.

Fighting the corporate sludge: High school students organize to protest privatization in D.C. while The Walton Family ponies up $25,000,000 for merit pay

You might remember ‘Jamal’ from my article on Detroit Public schools, “Corporate Barbarians at the Gate: Wal-Mart internships at Detroit Schools” (http://dailycensored.com/2010/03/06/corporate-barbarians-at-the-gate-wal-mart-internships-at-detroit-schools/). Jamal is the high school student who fought against and continues to fight against the Wal-martization of schools, both in Detroit and now nationally. I gave him the anonymous name, Jamal in my article, so as not to put him in a position of probable reprisals from smarmy administrators, private Pinkertons and politicians looking to punish kids for standing up for their human rights.

Charter Schools: The White Man’s Panacea for Education

Charter Schools, racism, segregation, predators targeting ‘sub-prime’ kids and ‘Morning Joe’: essential commentary by Solomon Comissiong The following article by Solomon Comissiong makes some very good points regarding a plethora of issues involving charter schools, educational privatization and institutional racism.  It also broaches the need for multi-racial community mobilizations not simply to stop the neo-liberal […]

Tim Madden is an economist with expertise on credit and banking. Tim and I are colleagues in lobbying government for public banking, with concentration in the US for state-owned banks (and here). The structural solutions to our economic controlled demolition are obvious and simple; and explained beautifully by many of America’s brightest historical minds. Tim’s […]
