Kate Raphael host for Women’s Magazine radio show on KPFA January 3, reported that Project Censored didn’t notice Women and Gender stories in 2010. Actually we had extensive coverage of women and gender news during the past year.  The quote on the KPFA program website states that,  “On Project Censored’s Top 25 list for 2010, not one story has to do with women and gender issues. But that doesn’t mean there was so much coverage of women’s issues; rather, the stories related to women are so censored that even the watchdogs didn’t notice them.” To the contrary, we noticed a lot of women and gender stories on our year round postings including some of the same stories that Women’s Magazine claimed we ignored. The top 25 news stories are only a small portion of the hundreds of stories researched and published each year by students and faculty in our over thirty affiliate colleges and universities. While we strongly support Kate Raphael and the Women’s Magazine show on KPFA we hope they do their homework better for future shows.
